From June 27 to 30, the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 will be held in Busan, South Korea. Since its inception in 1980, the competition has brought together teams from a variety of Asian countries, including India, Pakistan, Iran, and Bangladesh. The Indian men’s kabaddi team is the most successful in the Asian Kabaddi Championship’s history, having won seven gold medals in eight editions. Only Iran has broken Team India’s winning streak, winning the tournament in 2003.
The women’s Kabaddi team is also the defending champion, having defeated South Korea in the final in Iran in 2017 by a score of 42-20. In the last five Asian Kabaddi Championships, the Indian Women’s Kabaddi team has won four gold medals, with only the South Korean Women’s Kabaddi team winning the championship once.
